As a General Contractor, we work with many Architectural firms and have a strong interest for architecture. It is the pinnacle of merging beautiful design with useful functioning... and it makes our job much more interesting, and our work simpler yet stunning. It's part of our job to stay up on the latest building and design trends, technologies, and to stay knowledgeable. There is always more to learn in this industry!
Let's go over some of the most intriguing trends we've seen for 2023.
Sustainable Building
Green construction has to be one of the greatest trends for 2023, and we don't see it going away anytime soon. Designers and builders are utilizing a range of sustainable products and concepts. Some recommendations include using eco-friendly building materials, recycled building materials, energy efficiency, and smart technology. Another option is to convert existing commercial and industrial structures into housing. As the construction industry learns to adopt and maximize sustainable techniques, this design trend will continue to be prominent for many years to come.
Tiny Houses & ADU's
What at first appeared to be a craze has become an accepted norm recently. The small house trend is here to stay and may possibly offer a way to address the issue of homelessness in our wonderful city of Los Angeles. Affordable living options in compact dwellings are available, but not only do tiny homes and ADU's create homes, it also can create an income for the homeowner. In our urban environment, there are countless uses for compact living spaces, and the designs keep getting more creative.
3D Printing and AI
Artificial intelligence (AI) and other cutting-edge technology are becoming more prevalent in home and building design. Although we have been using 3D designs for some time, the quality and realism have greatly increased. Structures can be fully designed and rendered before being built. Important elements including structural integrity, resilience, sustainability, and energy efficiency can all be evaluated electronically to achieve the desired results. Using 3D printing, it is possible to create both miniature representations and actual modular building elements that hasten construction. Environmentally friendly materials are also employed in numerous 3D printing building applications to boost sustainability.
Developments With A Community Focus
Instead of just building blocks of homes or condos, several large-scale developers want to create entirely self-sufficient communities. These developments may include residential buildings alongside commercial establishments and shopping malls. We are also seeing cities more interested in creating sustainable landscapes and community green spaces for co-op farming and public enjoyment.
Smart Homes & Materials
Smart Homes were one of the largest trends of 2021 and 2022, and this continues. With the help of a smartphone or tablet and an internet connection, a smart home owner can remotely control lights, thermostats, appliances, and other gadgets. Wireless or hardwired systems can be used to build up smart houses. Homeowners benefit from the convenience and cost benefits offered by smart home technologies. Innovative material use is growing in popularity over time. Due to its ability to alter transparency levels depending on the time of day and other variables, smart glass is one such product that is already in use.
