Choosing to add a bathroom onto the home can make morning and nighttime routines more convenient for large families or allow you to entertain guests with ease. A new bathroom may have all of the features you have always wanted, so it’s important to work with a contractor to make this room just the way you want it. You have a lot of options when it comes to a bathroom addition, but one of the first choices you’ll have to make is the size of the room. Will you choose a half bath, a ¾ bath, or a full bath?

Definitions

Generally, a full bath is considered to have all of the components you would expect in a bathroom: shower, tub, sink, and toilet. A ¾ bath has only the shower and the sink and toilet, though some regions do not really differentiate this setup from a full bathroom. In a half bathroom, there is just the sink and toilet, which is still an ideal setup in some situations.

Which Is Best?

Of course, what you end up choosing will ultimately depend on you, your home, and your family. While any modern home in the U.S. contains a full bath or a ¾ bath, half baths are often ideal in the downstairs or entry areas, so that guests do not have to make their way through the home. ¾ baths are sometimes more appealing than full baths, since you have the option to build a unique shower to your liking, perhaps with a bench or additional showerheads for greater relaxation.

Something that is important to keep in mind is cost. Adding on a bathroom is already expensive, and if you ever plan to resell the house, you should know that a half bath won’t give you much of a return. If you are already going through the trouble of remodeling and adding on a bathroom—and spending a lot of money in the process—why not spend a little more on a shower and get more out of your investment?

However you choose to model your new room addition , the contractors at Advanced Builders & Contractors can help. Give us a call today!
