Check with your local building department to see if you need permits for your project. The permits will vary depending on the type and scope of your project. If you are in Los Angeles, this would be LA Building and Safety, but some parts of LA have their own permitting process, such as Beverly Hills.

4. Hire a contractor

Research and interview potential contractors to find one who is licensed, experienced, and has a good reputation. Make sure to get a detailed contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment schedule.

5. Demolition and preparation

If needed, clear out the space to be remodeled and prepare it for construction.

6. Construction

The contractor will begin the construction process, which can take several weeks or months, depending on the scope of the project.

7. Inspection

Your local building department may require inspections throughout the construction process to ensure that the work is up to code. Your General Contractor will schedule these and handle them for you.

8. Finishing touches

Once the construction is complete, it's time to add the finishing touches, such as painting, installing fixtures, and furnishing the space. If you have a designer, they may be working with you on this. To save money, ask your General Contractor if they can refer you to suppliers that provide a discount. 9. Final inspection
